Becoming Career Ready is a five-part learning series designed for learners looking to build their skills and knowledge as they embark on their career journey. Through a series of eModules and real-time sessions, learners will explore the eight career readiness competencies, identify the skills associated with each, and learn how those skills connect to career success. Learners will receive tools and resources to advance their success as they navigate their professional journey.
This learning series consists of five topic areas:
Introduction to Workplace Readiness: An introduction to workplace readiness, including the eight career readiness competencies, the skills associated with each career readiness competency, and how those skills connect to career success.
Personal Qualities and Abilities: Personal Qualities and Abilities are the characteristics that make you who you are and allow you to thrive in any career path you choose. This session focuses on the three related career readiness competencies – Self-Development, Critical Thinking and Leadership.
Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal Skills are the skills we use every day to communicate, collaborate and interact with other people, both individually and in groups. This session focuses on the three related career readiness competencies – Communication, Equity & Inclusion and Teamwork.
Professional Competencies: Professional Competencies are skills, knowledge and attributes that are specifically valued by associations and organizations and connected to your future career. This session focuses on the three related career readiness competencies – Career Development, Professionalism and Technology.
Advancing and Enhancing Competencies: A conclusion to the series that is focused on how participants can advance and enhance their competencies.
